Kwan-lam Lau

As a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, violinist Kwan-lam Lau studied Professional Diploma, Master of Arts in Performance, and Licentiate Diploma in Teaching (LRAM) with scholarships under the tutelage of Prof. HU Kun and Prof. Jonathan Stone. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she studied with Prof. Arisa Fujita. She also studied improvisation with Prof. David Dolan.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Kwan-lam performs regularly in the UK, Europe and Hong Kong. She is a winner of many awards and international competitions and a recipient of the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme presented by the HKSAR, granting her the title of Hong Kong Scholar. She was also awarded a tuition fee scholarship from the Guildhall School and the Henry Wood Accommodation Trust, and the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrument Purchase Grants 2016, supported by the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Foundation. Kwan-lam was invited to serve as a jury member and taught masterclasses at the 2024 and 2023 Hong Kong International String Competition.​
