Karen Wong
Karen (flute/piccolo) is a versatile chamber and orchestral musician, currently serving as Second Flute and Piccolo of the Macao Orchestra. A Britten-Pears Young Artist 2024/25 and a Rising Star of the Edinburgh International Festival 2025, she has performed with ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Hallé, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Northern Ballet Sinfonia, and the Scottish Ballet Orchestra. Prizewinner of several international competitions, Karen has appeared as a solosit and chamber musician across Europe, Asia, and the United States, with recent concerto engagements in the UK, Austria, and Italy.
Karen and Lance's shared enthusiasm for (re)discovering unknown works and under-represented composers — both of our time and within the classical canon — has forged a dynamic duo, bringing imaginative programmes of diverse styles to audiences across the UK and Hong Kong. They met as undergraduates at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as undergraduates and have worked together since completing their respective postgraduate studies in London until Karen's relocation to Macau. In 2022, they founded the wind-and-piano Ensemble Fioritura.
